The ultimate goal of the entire Inner Mosaic method is to build trust between all the parts of yourself.
Understanding Inner Mosaic
The Inner Mosaic Method is a unique and transformative approach, meticulously crafted by Samantha Kaaua. It's a journey of self-discovery, empowering you to understand and embrace the various parts of yourself. This innovative method is the key to unlocking self-acceptance, self-love, self-trust and achieving breakthroughs in all areas of life.
The Birth of Inner MosaicÂ
When I first started this work, I actually called it Shadow Work. I realized later many people already used the name Shadow Work because in reality, many people run away from their shadow—the parts of themselves they don’t want the world to see, the parts they don’t want to acknowledge.
I originally got the name Shadow Work from a comic strip I once saw. It was of a man running away from his shadow. As the man ran farther away, the shadow grew bigger and bigger until it looked like this big scary monster chasing him. But then the man stopped. He decided to turn toward his shadow instead. As the man walked closer and closer to his shadow, it began to shrink. The second to last image of the comic strip was of the man holding his tiny shadow in the palm of his hand, and the very last image was of the man hugging his shadow.
This comic strip was a very important life lesson for me and everyone I’ve helped through this process. The premise of this technique is to befriend your fears. When you embrace the parts of you that look scary, you can bring them down to size so they don’t look like a big scary monster chasing you. And like your shadow, you can’t run away from your fears, no matter how hard you try. The only way to get rid of your shadow is to shine the light of awareness on it.
The Philosophy Behind Inner Mosaic
At its essence, Inner Mosaic is based on the understanding that we are composed of different 'parts' or 'pieces', much like a mosaic artwork. These parts are shaped by our life experiences and the imprints of strong emotional impacts. Recognizing and embracing each of these unique facets is crucial for creating a harmonious and complete self-trust.
The development of the Inner Mosaic Method draws inspiration from several systemic therapeutic models, including Bowenian, Attachment, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to name a few. These clinical models collectively informed the creation of Inner Mosaic, with a focus on moving beyond labeling and embracing the dynamic range of emotions within us.
How The Inner Mosaic Method Works
When you bump up against a problem, and I can stretch to say any problem or challenge, the Inner Mosaic method helps you increase awareness, align with your highest and most divine self, and take action from this place of alignment.
In short, it allows you to pause long enough to make a conscious decision about how you want to present yourself in the moment. And it allows you to regain your personal power in determining how you want to respond to the world instead of letting your circumstances, situation, or condition dictate how you think, feel, and act.
Once you trust all the parts of yourself and all the parts of yourself trust you, life begins to happen through you and as you.
